Gas & Wood Fireplace Inserts

An open fireplace can pull more heat out of your house than it puts in. An insert uses the same opening and turns it into a genuine heat source.

What's Included

Straightforward service, fully documented

What an insert changes

  • Sealed combustion instead of an open hole to the sky
  • Dramatically higher heat output from the same fireplace opening
  • Gas inserts: instant heat, many run without electricity
  • Wood inserts: long burns, real fire, far less smoke
  • A correctly sized stainless liner installed with the unit
  • Glass, blower and controls fitted and commissioned

The liner is not an optional extra. An insert vented into an unlined masonry flue drafts badly and is against code.

How It Works

Three simple steps

Measure the opening

Insert sizing is exact. We measure the firebox, the flue and the space before recommending anything.

Choose gas or wood honestly

Gas for convenience and instant heat. Wood for output and running cost. We will tell you which suits how you actually live.

Install, line and commission

Unit, liner and controls fitted together, then tested with you watching.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Gas insert or wood insert?

Gas if you want heat immediately with no work. Wood if you want maximum output and cheaper fuel, and do not mind loading it. Both are a large step up from an open fireplace.

Does an insert need a new liner?

Yes. A correctly sized stainless liner is part of a proper installation and is required by code.

Will an insert fit my fireplace?

Most standard masonry fireplaces take one. We measure the opening and the flue before recommending a model.

Do gas inserts work in a power cut?

Many models do, which is a real advantage in an Oregon ice storm. We will tell you which ones.
