Fireplace Repair in Portland & Southwest Washington
Cracked firebox, a damper that will not budge, glass that will not seal. Most fireplace faults are repairable — replacing the unit is rarely the first answer.
Straightforward service, fully documented
What we repair inside the fireplace
- Firebox brick and refractory panel repair or replacement
- Smoke chamber repair and parging
- Damper repair, rebuild and full replacement
- Glass doors, gaskets and seals
- Blower and fan replacement
- Hearth and surround masonry repair
If a fireplace genuinely is not worth repairing we will tell you and price the replacement honestly. That is a much rarer answer than the industry pretends.
Three simple steps
Nobody quotes a firebox they have not seen. Your technician photographs the damage and shows you on the spot.
A single upfront figure for the whole repair. It does not move once work starts.
We fire it, check the draft and confirm it is safe before we leave.
When to call us
Six commitments, on every single job
The chimney trade has an upsell problem. These are the rules we hold ourselves to — read them, then hold us to them.
The number we quote is the number you pay. Our price never goes up once the technician is at your door.
You see what we see — every finding photographed, before and after. No trust-me diagnoses.
We tell you when your chimney is fine. Technicians are never paid to sell you repairs you don't need.
More than 25 years in the chimney trade. Around 10 Perfect Chimney technicians who live here — never a call centre, never a temp crew, never a subcontractor in an unmarked van.
Monday to Friday 7am–8pm and Saturday 9am–6pm. A real person answers — never a call centre, never an answering service.
Fully licensed and insured for every job we take, from a $99 sweep to a full masonry rebuild.

YELP REVIEW · GAS FIREPLACEFrequently asked questions
Is my fireplace worth repairing or should I replace it?
Almost always worth repairing. Fireboxes, dampers, panels and glass are all serviceable parts. Replacement makes sense when the structure itself has failed, and we will show you photographs of why rather than just asserting it.
How much does fireplace repair cost?
It depends entirely on what broke — a damper is a different job from a firebox rebuild. Every repair is quoted in writing, upfront, after you have seen the damage.
Do you repair both wood and gas fireplaces?
Yes. Wood fireplaces, gas fireplaces, inserts and wood stoves.
Can you repair a fireplace in an older home?
Yes — older Portland and Oregon City homes are a large part of what we do. Original masonry needs a careful eye, not a sales pitch.
