Is a fireplace inspection different from a chimney inspection?
Yes. A chimney inspection looks at the flue, crown, cap and flashing. A fireplace inspection looks at what is in the room with you: firebox, damper, smoke chamber, panels, glass and gas components. We do both on the same visit.
Do I need one if I only use the fireplace occasionally?
Yes. Damper corrosion, gasket failure and mortar cracking happen with time and damp, not only with use. An unused fireplace is also where animals nest.
Does it cost extra on top of the sweep?
No. The $249 sweep-plus-inspection covers the whole system, fireplace included.
Do you inspect gas fireplaces?
Yes — burner, pilot, thermocouple, flame pattern, gas connection and a carbon monoxide check, on every major brand.
What if you find a problem?
You get photographs of it and a written price. There is never pressure to decide on the spot, and we will tell you if it can safely wait.
