A meter reading, not a guess
Most gas fireplaces get misdiagnosed because nobody measures anything. A weak thermopile and a failing gas valve look identical from the couch, and one of them costs a fraction of the other. So we measure first and show you the number.
What the diagnostic covers
- Thermopile output under load, in millivolts, against the manufacturer's spec
- Thermocouple continuity and pilot flame impingement
- Gas valve inlet and manifold pressure
- Intermittent pilot ignition module, spark gap and flame rectification
- Wall switch, remote receiver and low-voltage wiring
- Blower motor draw, bearings and thermal disc
- Burner port and pilot orifice condition, logs set to spec
- Venting, glass gasket seal and spillage check
You get the photos and the readings before anyone talks about a part. If the fix is a cleaning and an adjustment, that is what we tell you.
The diagnostic is paid, and it is credited
A proper gas diagnostic takes a technician, a manometer, a multimeter and the better part of an hour. Companies that offer it free make it back somewhere else — usually by quoting a part you did not need.
Ours is $49, and it comes straight off the repair. If you go ahead with the work, the diagnostic costs you nothing. If you do not, you still keep the photos and the readings, and you are free to take them anywhere.
It is the same reason we photograph everything: we would rather show you than ask you to take our word for it.

Is it safe to keep using a fireplace that acts up?
If it shuts itself off or smells odd, stop using it and call. Safety systems shut units down for a reason.
Do you carry parts on the truck?
We stock the common failure parts — thermocouples, thermopiles, igniters — so most repairs finish in one visit.
Can you fix an old unit whose brand no longer exists?
Usually yes — most gas components are standardized. We'll tell you honestly if a unit isn't worth repairing.
